In exchange for their tax-exempt status, nonprofit hospitals are required to provide community benefit by investing in community health improvement programs, as well as offer financial assistance or ‘charity care’ to uninsured patients or those unable to pay.
Please join Community Catalyst on Thursday, December 8 at 2:00 pm ET for a presentation and conversation with researchers at the Lown Institute. They will discuss the Lown Institute Hospitals Index, an innovative tool that measures hospitals across four areas including social responsibility, racial inclusivity, avoiding overuse of unnecessary procedures, and how much hospitals give back to their communities.
Community Catalyst is excited to engage with the Lown Institute researchers about how they can use the index in their work to improve how hospitals serve the communities that rely on them.
