A new West Virginia report by Americans for Tax Fairness and Health Care for America Now detailing the affects of the new tax law on families in West Virginia and compares that with the tax benefits that health insurance companies and prescription drug manufacturers receive under the same law.
To sell the GOP tax cuts, Trump claimed that working families would benefit the most. This is far from the truth. The new tax law provides WV’s richest 1% with an average tax cut of $28,000. To help pay for this massive tax giveaway for the wealthy and corporations, Trump’s tax plan repealed key provisions of the Affordable Care Act that will increase the number of uninsured residents in WV by 69,000 and raise ACA insurance premiums will rise by $2,100 on average.
